Kaziranga National Park to Close on May 29 After Extended Safari Season

Kaziranga National Park to Close on May 29 After Extended Safari Season

Kaziranga National Park will now stay open for tourists until May 29 after authorities decided to extend the tourism season by four extra days due to the increasing number of visitors. The famous UNESCO World Heritage Site, known worldwide for its endangered one-horned rhinoceros population, was earlier scheduled to close on May 25 ahead of the monsoon season.

The extension came after tourism stakeholders, including the Kaziranga National Park Hotel and Resort Association, requested officials to continue safari operations as tourist arrivals remained high. After reviewing the demand, park authorities approved the revised schedule, giving travelers more time to enjoy the park’s wildlife, grasslands, and scenic beauty before the rainy season begins.

The decision has brought relief to tourists and local tourism businesses, including hotels and resorts, which are expected to see continued benefits from the extended season. Following the closure on May 29, forest officials will begin monsoon preparation and conservation work to protect the park’s ecosystem during heavy rainfall.
