Rhino Attack Leaves Forest Guard Injured in Kaziranga

Guwahati: A forest guard was injured after being attacked by a rhinoceros at Kaziranga National Park on Saturday, the same day the park reopened to tourists following its annual monsoon closure.

According to a forest department official, the incident occurred near the Bhaichamari Forest Camp in the Bagori Forest Range, where the guard was performing his duty. The injured official was identified as Pradip Baruah.

The forest department said Baruah encountered the rhino while carrying out his assigned duties in the area. He suffered injuries in the attack and was later taken to Kaliabor Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital for medical treatment.

The official said Baruah is currently under observation, and doctors will decide on any further treatment based on his condition.

Following the reopening of the park after the monsoon break, forest guards had been stationed at different locations to help maintain visitor safety and ensure the smooth movement of tourists. No tourist was injured in the incident.
