These proposals are being considered to comply with Supreme Court directives and strengthen sustainable eco-tourism initiatives.

Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of India’s most important tiger habitats, may soon implement new visitor regulations as part of an updated conservation strategy. The Assam Forest Department is currently examining multiple proposals that include prohibiting tourists from carrying mobile phones inside the park, making online safari booking mandatory for all visitors, and keeping the park closed one day every week.

The proposed measures are aimed at enhancing wildlife conservation efforts while promoting responsible and sustainable tourism within the protected area. The discussions have been initiated following directions from the state’s Forest Minister and are also intended to ensure compliance with the Supreme Court’s order issued on November 17, 2025, which established guidelines for all tiger reserves across India.

Officials associated with the ongoing discussions in Guwahati stated that the review process was launched to identify practical ways to encourage eco-tourism while fully following the conservation guidelines issued by the country’s apex court. The Supreme Court’s directives for tiger reserves have led the department to reassess existing visitor management practices at Kaziranga with the objective of reducing human disturbance and preserving a natural environment for its wildlife, including the endangered one-horned rhinoceros and Bengal tigers.

Authorities have clarified that no final decision has been taken regarding the implementation of these proposed changes. Extensive consultations with different stakeholders are still underway, and the department is gathering suggestions and feedback from local communities, tour operators, conservation experts, and other concerned parties before finalising any new visitor regulations. The initiative reflects an effort to maintain a balanced approach between promoting tourism and protecting the ecological integrity of one of India’s most significant biodiversity hotspots.

Kaziranga National Park is reviewing several major changes to improve visitor management, including a possible ban on mobile phones, compulsory online safari bookings, and the introduction of a weekly closure…

[233
234,39,163,235,236
post-1138","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-kaziranga-national-park-news","tag-ban-mobile-phones-in-kaziranga","tag-kaziranga-national-park","tag-kaziranga-national-park-news","tag-kaziranga-safari-rules","tag-wildlife-conservation-in-kaziranga
["GET
